About the Incubator
Incubator Overview
GoFA's flagship Shared Future Incubator is a cohort-based program designed to support collaborations that imagine and prototype bold ideas about the future at a systems level to make the world more beautiful for more people. SFI2020 presents our inaugural cohort of four Shared Futures in development.
Definition of a Shared Future: A Shared Future is a potential reality born from the bold vision and dedicated stewardship of future architects seeking long-view, transformational impact leading to shared prosperity. Think of a Shared Future as the cousin of a Startup. They are both organized endeavors to bring innovation to humanity. The difference is a Startup prioritizes The Market; a Shared Future prioritizes The Commons.
Incubator Offerings: This cohort-based program supports a select number of Shared Futures each year with:
Grants: A prototype grant of $25,000 and a content development grant of $5,000.
Learning Programs & Advisory Sessions: Four months of curated advisory sessions designed to bring about rejuvenation, radical imagination, and strategic clarity.
Shared Future Share Day: The program culminates with a Shared Future Shared Day to galvanize additional resources and stewardships.
Program Goals
The goal of the incubation program is to nurture the development of each Shared Future (with 3+ individuals) so as to increase all the collaborators' capacity to learn and likelihood to make progress on boldly imagined new realities.
Vision : To further the development of a compelling vision for a future state that centers justice and beauty.
Cohesion: To cultivate strong ties within each Shared Future and help collaborators better equip themselves with tools and methodologies for building team cohesion.
Learning: To provide an environment of learning within and among the Shared Futures in the cohort, especially as it relates to practices of future architecture and co-creation.
Shape: To guide the development of structures necessary for attracting resources and ensuring healthy growth.
Momentum: To support each Shared Future in gaining clarity and momentum in their development and change efforts through prototyping and/or co-creating ideas in community.
