Our healthcare system is woefully inadequate by any measure, as made painfully obvious by its impotence to stem the tide of the COVID-19 pandemic. Political, financial, and technical solutions can never hope to address its inherent shortcomings. The common thread through each of these approaches is the limiting assumption that good health comes from good health care, a product generated by effectively managed but scarce resources: physicians. Abundant, while recognizing the role physicians have to play in society, has identified a new path to good health, one which gives attention to how every community can contribute to and benefit from abundant resources. Two examples of these powerful and heretofore undervalued resources include collective knowledge gleaned from experience and the shared desire by the many to be of benefit to one another. This is the foundation of a new paradigm of health care, one committed to universal access, excellence, and patient satisfaction.
