What is Future Architecture?
Future Architecture is defined as: The active pursuit to build systems designed to foster collective wellbeing and shared prosperity.
It can be further understood through the following lenses:
Philosophy: Humanity creates beauty when individuals’ capacity is able to respond to all living and non-living systems’ interdependent complexity. In practical terms, such beauty manifests in the pursuit of collective wellbeing and shared prosperity. It requires the authentic integration of one’s inner world and society’s changing dynamics.
In this context, beauty means experiencing life with a profound appreciation of our connections to one another and to the worlds within and around us.
Framework: The interplay of imagination, narrative, and embodiment (INE) determines how well we can design and build systems that foster collective wellbeing and shared prosperity.
Imagination: how we understand the world to be in both its actuality and its possibility
Narrative: how we communicate that understanding embedded in individual and collective identity
Embodiment: how we experience that understanding through body-mind integration
Practice: The evolving future architecture pedagogy includes five pillars of practice:
Systems Dynamics: aims to understand/leverage complexity in systems
Personal Transformation: aims to cultivate individual development
Speculative Narrative: aims to expand collective imagination
Community Commerce: aims to design community-oriented growth strategy
Group Cohesion: aims to build co-creation capacity
