The Guild of Future Architects was launched in 2019 to galvanize future architects around the world to engage in a 100-year co-creation process to transform societies based on the elevation of beauty and justice. Following its launch at the Future Imagination Summit in October 2019, the Guild focused on curating its membership and creating new programs based on its core pillars.

As the Covid-19 pandemic unfolded, the Guild’s nascent community of practice and activities shifted by necessity to virtual environments. One such practice first prototyped at the Summit—the Futurist Writers Room—was reorganized as an ongoing virtual series of facilitated sessions combining backcasting and futuring to radically imagine (and reimagine) “20 Decades of 2020.” These sessions served as both emotional support during the difficult early stages of the pandemic and a significant act of co-authorship. Recently, GoFA Press published 20 Decades of 2020 as a book. During this period, The Guild received substantial philanthropic support from major foundations including Ford, Rockefeller, Omidyar and Emerson.
