Structure: Evolution from Organization to Organism

Since the end of 2021 and throughout 2022, GoFA began taking a progressive, evolutionary path from organization to living organism with a higher level of self-awareness and notion of collective potential.

The nucleus at the center of this organism is the Regenerative Leadership System (and member-led staff) responsible for co-creating the scaffolding upon which GoFA members commune in its community of practice. Surrounding the nucleus is GoFA’s membership and their portfolio of projects and endeavors—their practice of future architecture. Together, they form the social fabric of the Guild. This subtle but vital membrane intimately connects our members, allowing for emergent, collaboratively-generated visions of the future. Shared Futures—active manifestations of potential new realities—arise from this. With the support of GoFA Members, Shared Futures extend beyond the Guild into other ecosystems and communities. The shared trust developed through these acts of co-creation act as a contagious cultural bridge that emerges within these other ecosystems and communities and their own established circles of trust. Learnings generated within and beyond this dynamic organism are archived and shared as Collective Wisdom in mural boards, various artifacts (i.e. Portals, 20 Decades of 2020) and in a wide array of media formats, articles and publications. At its core the entire ‘system’ is held together by complex networks of interconnected relationships.

GoFA remains a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization, while taking its first steps to move from an “organization” to an “organism.”

Leadership was changed from a traditional Board of Directors/Executive Director structure to a Regenerative Leadership System. The Board structure is under review.

Members of the Regenerative Leadership Team include Sharon Chang, May Lee, Jen Wilson, Richard Kelly and Mark Beam.
