Context

In June 2022, GoFA 2.0 was launched, with scaffolding to better support member-led systemic change; regenerate its own operational processes; and build better futures. Informed by biology and living systems the Guild zeroed in on the ways in which natural systems are built around symbiotic wholeness, and evolved its leadership model from a single executive director to a regenerative leadership system (RLS). Within the RLS, multiple members comprise a regenerative leadership team (RLT), establishing a pathway for GoFA members to rotate into the RLT, balancing diversity and fresh viewpoints with necessary continuity. This structure positions up to two members of the RLT as the keepers of vision and community; the remaining members come together as a strategic and operational cohort to manage daily work.

GoFA 2.0’s second major shift was to evolve its structure from organization to organism, defined as: “living, breathing, interdependent and resilient.” The metaphor of a living organism is intended to eschew silos, boxes, and lists while inspiring new adaptive pathways to more nuanced interdisciplinary and intersectional member practices.
